Student Advisory Board

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!
Join the Student Advisory Board, Apply Now

The English Language Institute proudly announces the creation of the Student Advisory Board (SAB) and invites ELI students to apply. The ELI SAB will serve as a platform for student voices in generating input and feedback for the ELI faculty and administration, thereby grounding curricular and administrative ELI decisions in a broad range of student perspectives.

Goals and Initiatives
The Student Advisory Board will: a) recommend and initiate projects and/or activities to best serve the interests of students, b) serve as a focus group to assist the ELI faculty in assessing the language needs and concerns of ELI students, c) act as a liaison between the ELI student body and the ELI faculty and administration to strengthen communication channels, and d) represent the ELI student body in periodic ELI meetings and events as appropriate and necessary.

Membership, Terms of Office and Meetings
The SAB will seek to recruit members that acknowledge the rich diversity of its student population, including but not limited to diversity based on race, gender, national origin, languages spoken, age, religion and academic discipline. The ELI SAB Officers will consist of a Chair, a Vice Chair and a Secretary who will be elected by the members of the Board. Board members are selected for office via application to the ELI Instructional Division. Board members will serve for 12 months with a possible renewal for a subsequent one-year term. Terms may begin on the third/fourth week of September. The SAB shall meet at least twice a term (Fall and Winter terms) with the presence of an ELI faculty/staff advisor, to realize the objective of advising the ELI faculty and administration from a student perspective.
