Please check back in January 2016 for updated information on the Summer 2016 program
See below for information about program requirements and who is eligible to apply.
Your application, along with a non-refundable $500 deposit, must be received by the application deadline. Your application will not be processed until this deposit is received.
After your application is approved, you will receive an email from ELI with further instructions, including a link to the final payment page. You must pay the remaining balance of the Summer Program cost by the tuition deadline.
The English Language Institute (ELI) Summer Programs are designed for students who will be studying at the University of Michigan or another U.S. university in the fall. We do not accept students who plan to study English only for the summer and then return home. Any exceptions to this policy must be approved in advance by the ELI Director and the appropriate U-M Admissions Office.
Students who have been admitted to a degree program at the University of Michigan and who apply before the application deadline have priority over non-University of Michigan students, who may be admitted on a space-available basis. These students must meet all program requirements, including minimum TOEFL scores.
Space is limited in ELI Summer Programs, so while we make every effort to admit all qualified applicants, this is not always possible. Therefore, you should apply as soon as possible to reserve your place.
Applicants to ELI Summer Programs who have not been accepted into a degree program at the University of Michigan must meet the following TOEFL requirements:
|English for Academic Purposes (EAP)||550||79||6.5|
|English for Business Studies (EBS)||[not accepted by U-M Ross Business School]||100||7|
|English for Legal Studies (ELS||580||92||7|
You should apply to the summer program as soon as you can. We will make every effort to admit you; however, sometimes programs are fully enrolled and we are unable to admit everyone who applies.

Please note: Procuring an F-1 student visa can be a long process. The earlier you apply to our summer programs, the earlier you can obtain a visa. For more information on visas, please visit our visa information page.
Within five business days of receipt of your application, you will receive an email from us which will indicate if any information is still needed in order to process your application.
Applicants who will be attending the University of Michigan in the Fall will be accepted as long as we receive your application, letter of admission, and deposit before the application deadline.
