In order for a student to be considered for admission into the 2014 Summer Program, all materials must be received by the ELI no later than the application deadline of May 9, 2014.
Please note: Getting a visa can take a long time. The earlier you apply to our summer programs, the earlier you can obtain a visa. For more information on visas, please visit our visa information page.
You will be required to pay a $500 deposit after completion of this application.
You may also call 734.764.2413 and ask to speak to someone about Summer Program admission.
After paying the deposit but before the final payment deadline (June 2, 2014), each student must pay the remaining balance of the Summer Program cost. After admissions have been made, a member of our staff will contact you with further instructions, including a link to a final payment page.
The English Language Institute (ELI) Summer Language programs are designed for students who will be studying at a U.S. university in the fall. We do not accept students who want to study English only for the summer and then return home.
If you have been admitted to the University of Michigan, you have priority over non-University of Michigan students, if you apply before the program deadline. Although each program has minimum TOEFL requirements, if you have been admitted to a program at the University of Michigan and your score is below the minimum, you can be admitted to one of our summer programs with the approval of the program coordinator.
For students not attending the University of Michigan, the following TOEFL requirements must be met.
|English for Academic Purposes (EAP)||550||79||6.5|
|English for Business Studies (EBS)||[not accepted by U-M Ross Business School]||100||7|
|English for Legal Studies (ELS||580||92||7|
You should apply to the summer program as soon as you can. We will make every effort to admit you; however, sometimes programs are fully enrolled and we are unable to admit everyone who applies.
You will receive an email from us within five business days of receipt of your application which will indicate if any information is still needed in order for your application to be processed. If you will be attending the University of Michigan in the Fall and there is still space available, we can accept you into a program as soon as we receive your application, letter of admission, and deposit.
