 
The English Placement Test (EPT), the Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency (MTELP), the Michigan English Language Institute College English Test-Grammar, Cloze, Vocabulary, Reading (MELICET-GCVR), and the Michigan English Language Institute College English Test-Listening (MELICET-L) are sold by the ELI Test Publications Division to bona fide educational institutions and corporations.

The EPT is a placement test that was developed to group beginning, intermediate, and advanced students into homogeneous ability levels in intensive English courses at the UM-ELI. The MTELP was formerly used as a component of the Michigan Test Battery. The MELICET-GCVR and MELICET-L tests were formally components of the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB). These tests can be used to place students into a language program, to measure the progress of ESL/EFL students in a language program, or to assess the level of proficiency of students.
These tests are considered nonsecure tests. Because the tests are sold to many institutions, a student may have seen a particular form of the test at another institution or have been coached for the test. The tests should not be used for initial university admissions purposes. The test should be used for internal purposes only. Scores from these tests should not be included on reports issued under the name of the local institution if the reports are for use outside the institution. Scores on the test should not be reported as official MELAB scores.
Purchasing institutions must sign the UM-ELI Test Publication Purchaser Agreement (PDF) to purchase any of the UM-ELI test publications.
