He has co-translated several volumes of poetry with Czeslaw Milosz. He is a former MacArthur Fellow, US Poet Laureate, Pulitzer-Prize winner, Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, and National Book Award winner.
Brenda Hillman is the author of nine books of poetry including Practical Water, Bright Existence, Cascadia, and Loose Sugar. She holds the Olivia Filippi Chair in Poetry at St. Mary’s College, in Moraga, California.
Both poets are active in the Ecopoetry movement which searches for ways to use language to better appreciate/understand the interconnectedness of human, animal, mind, matter and nature. Language not as an object but as a motion.
