BIO

The Department of English Language and Literature will hold its Departmental Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 2nd, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. in the Michigan Theater, 603 East Liberty Street, Ann Arbor, MI.

Lobby doors will open at 3:30 p.m. and guests should be seated by 3:45 p.m. Photographs will be allowed during the ceremony from your seat. No one is allowed to stand in the aisles or along the walls during the ceremony for safety reasons. Each graduating student will be recognized by name and receive a certificate from the Department for their achievements. A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony in the Michigan Theater lobby and balcony.

Tickets are NOT needed for this event.  To ensure that all of our graduates are able to have family attend, we request that each graduating student limit the number of guests to no more than eight

Students must RSVP by Monday, April 14th, 2014, in order to be included on the list of students participating in the ceremony. Please contact the Undergraduate Department if you or a guest accompanying you has special seating needs or any other concerns at 734-764-6330.

GRADUATING STUDENTS REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Students are requested to arrive in cap and gown PROMPTLY at 2:45 p.m. at the Michigan Theater and proceed through the lobby (follow the signs) to register.

Students, NO purses, back packs, totes, etc. will be allowed in the ceremony line.

NO helium balloons are allowed due to safety/fire concerns, but flowers are welcomed.

Photographer from Graduation Foto will be on hand to photograph each student as he or she receives a certificate. In addition, a portrait of each student will be taken off stage. Graduation Foto will contact you by mail in regards to orders.
