Graduation Information

2015 English Graduation at Michigan Theater

The Department of English Language and Literature will hold its Departmental Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 1st, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. in the Michigan Theater, 603 East Liberty Street, Ann Arbor, MI.

BIO

Lobby doors will open to guests at 3:30 p.m. and guests should be seated by 3:45 p.m. Each graduate will be recognized by name as he or she cross the stage. Guests are welcome to take photographs during the ceremony from their seats however guests are not allowed to stand in the aisle, along the walls or move to the front at any time during the ceremony. These areas MUST remain clear for emergency purposes. A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony in the Michigan Theater lobby and balcony.

Tickets are NOT needed for this event.  To ensure that all of our graduates are able to have family attend, we request that each graduating student limit the number of guests to no more than eight

Students must RSVP by Monday, April 13th, 2015, in order to be included on the list of students participating in the ceremony. Please contact the Undergraduate Department if you or a guest accompanying you has special seating needs or any other concerns at 734-764-6330.

GRADUATING STUDENTS REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Students are requested to arrive in cap and gown PROMPTLY at 2:45 p.m. at the Michigan Theater and proceed through the lobby towards the back to the Screening Room to register.

Graduates: NO purses, back packs, totes, etc. will be allowed in the ceremony line.

Guests: NO helium balloons are allowed due to safety/fire concerns, but flowers are welcomed.

A professional photographer from Graduation Foto will be on hand to photograph each graduate as he or she cross the stage. In addition, a portrait of each graduate will be taken off stage. Graduation Foto will contact you directly by mail in regards to placing an order.
