We are delighted to announce the winners of this year’s Feinberg Family First-Year Writing Prize competition.  The three winning students and their nominating instructors are:

Carlina Duan, “If You’re Happy and You Know it, LOL” (Instructor: Jeremiah Chamberlin)

Margaret Hitch, “Taking a Page from Fun Home: Relations Between Reading and Reality” (Instructor: Tiffany Ball)

Alyssa Lopez, “Different Family, Different Culture, Same Me” (Instructor: Joseph Horton)

The deliberation process was difficult, as we considered over 50 excellent submissions in a variety of genres. It was a pleasure to see how the creative prompts given by nominating instructors fostered sophisticated work in our first-year students. The three winners, along with the winners of several Sweetland writing prizes, will have their work published in a paperback volume and online.
