Teaching Awards
We are delighted to make this announcement about the winners of two different teaching awards: the BEN Prize and the Rackham Outstanding GSI Award. As is true every year, it is a privilege to get to read the files of all Lecturers and GSIs nominated for these awards and learn about the inspiring teaching happening in EDWP instructors’ classrooms.
This year’s winners of the BEN Prize for outstanding teaching of writing are:
Natalie Bakopoulos
Nick Harp
The BEN Prize, funded by an endowment in honor of alum and English Advisory Board member Larry Kirshbaum, is awarded each year to two Lecturers who have achieved a high level of excellence in the teaching of writing.
We also just recently found out that two English Department GSIs/Lecturers are recipients of this year’s Rackham Outstanding GSI Award:
Joe Horton (MFA ’11, currently a Lecturer I in English)
Danielle Lillge (Joint Ph.D. Program in English and Education)
The winners of this highly competitive teaching award are selected from across the university to honor distinction in teaching and mentoring. There will be an awards ceremony at Rackham on April 19, where Joe and Danielle will be honored; we hope many of you will be able to attend.
Please join us in congratulating Natalie, Nick, Joe, and Danielle on these wonderful teaching awards.
