"The Ecosystem of Meanings in Robert Frost's 'Spring Pools'"

Description:
In this presentation I will discuss a collaborative approach to that poem taken by Glenn Adelson (who teaches ecology at Harvard and was an English major at the University of Michigan) and me. We offer it as a new model for ecocriticism that incorporates much more scientific information into criticism than has previously been the case. In addition to presenting a close reading of the Frost, I'll sketch the parallel way in which we intend to interpret Moore's "The Paper Nautilus."

Publications:
Imagining the Earth (U. of Georgia Press)
Reading the Mountiains of Home (Harvard U. Press)
