Gallery Inquiry

With a Museum educator, students work in investigative teams within a Museum gallery, solving specific problems or questions relating to current scientific research.  Programs are 2 hours in length, including both 1 hour of guided gallery time and 1 hour of self-guided exploration on the same topic throughout the Museum.

Explore Evolution
Grades 7-12
This inquiry-based program helps students explore our new NSF-funded evolution gallery.  Using the concepts of variation, inheritance, selection, and time, students work in teams with a Museum educator to investigate and explain seven different research projects on organisms ranging in size from a virus to walking whales.  Self-guided time challenges students to explore and understand the many ways we see evolution at work in the natural world, both in the fossil record and in modern biology.

Length:  2 Hours
Cost:  $4 per person
MCF Content Benchmarks:  Science I.1, II.1, III.3, III.4
