An Overview
The Instructional Support Services provides free workshops to familiarize LSA students, faculty and staff with the equipment and software available at our facilities. The following descriptions cover some of the workshops we provide. All workshops are held at the ISS Media Center, 2001 Modern Languages Building (MLB). For more complete information about these workshops, please see the list on the left side of this page
Editing Suite Orientations
Orientations are 15 minutes long and cover the basic information needed to gain access to the Media Center's Edit Rooms. These orientations are designed for first-time users that are already familiar with the multimedia software installed in these rooms. Users are required to attend an orientation before gaining access to our editing suites. During the fall and winter terms, orientations are given at 10:00am, 2:00pm and 7:00pm Monday through Thursday. All edit room orientations are given on a first-come-first-serve basis with a limit of five per session. Software applications are not taught in these orientations. For a list of software available in the editing suites, please view our Audio Visual Editing Suites page.
High-end Equipment Orientations
Orientations are one hour long and cover information needed to gain access to the Media Center's high-end and DSLR cameras. These orientations are designed for advanced users that are already familiar with video cameras and multiuse lenses. All LSA faculty, staff and students wanting to use the Media Center's high-end video cameras must attend an orientation session. For more information, please email: lsa-iss-media@umich.edu.
Workshops for LSA Courses
For LSA faculty requiring media-based projects in their courses, Instructional Support Services can design workshops geared specifically to course needs. Whether your students require introductory or advanced training, we can help. We strongly suggest that you contact us well before the beginning of the term to ensure that we can provide a workshop for your class.
For more information concerning workshops at the ISS Media Center, email: lsa-iss-media@umich.edu.
