Training and Support for Departmental Advisors

Departmental Advisor Training/Support Program (2012)

The annual training & support program for new department advisors (although continuing advisors are welcome to participate as well if they would like a refresher on a particular topic)

The schedule for the program is as follows:

Friday, October 5:
Overview of Requirements, Intro to on-line resources including the CG and Wolverine Access, Transcript Reading session, Advisor Handbook
Friday, October 12:
Student Advising File, Exceptions and Note-writing tips, Declaration and Release information, PTD and auditing overview, graduation and auditing, minors.
Friday, November 26:
Standard's Board — including Dean's file, grade review and progress reports, Students in Difficulty
Friday, November 2:
Transfer credit, study abroad, Honors majors, ICP and BGS

The time of the sessions is 10AM-Noon. The location is the Newnan Advising Center's training/conference rooms (G239/243 Angell). Please RSVP at your convenience to Susan Gass (sgass@umich.edu).
