2012 LSA Advising Academy
By Esrold Nurse
Sep 18, 2012
I am writing to invite you and others from your department involved with the undergraduate experience to attend the LSA Advising Academy to be held October 19, 2012 in the Michigan League.
Since its inception two years ago, the Advising Academy has promoted excellence and innovation in advising for undergraduates and focused on connecting departments with the information and resources useful in creating vibrant intellectual communities. This year’s Advising Academy will focus on engaged learning and we are delighted that Dean McDonald and Associate Dean Deloria will both participate in the program.
The day will begin with a plenary panel discussion addressing the issues, logistics, and opportunities associated with helping undergraduates make intellectual and practical connections between their scholarship and activities in communities ranging from the local to the global. A catered lunch will provide additional opportunities for discussing the ideas raised in the panel. The day will close with an exclusive opportunity for participants to meet with representatives of the University’s many co-curricular programs, and to refine the broader ideas addressed in the panel in ways that are practical for their own departments.
Please register your departmental attendees for each session on our registration website by Friday, September 28: www.umich.edu/~lsasaa/advisingacademy/
We look forward to seeing you on October 19.
Sincerely,
Esrold.
