Newnan Advising Center Professional Development Series, Winter 2012-Disabilities
Dear Colleagues,
In conjunction with the Office of the Assistant Dean, I am pleased to invite you to the second installment of the Newnan Advising Center Professional Development Series. The focus will be on issues facing students with disabilities. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 15, from 8:30 to 10:00 am in room 2260 of the Undergraduate Science Building (USB).
For this presentation, we will be joined by Dr. Stuart Segal, Director of Services for Students with Disabilities; Ms. Carole Dubritsky, Assistant Director of the Office of Intuitional Equity; and Ms. Lisa Clark, Coordinator of the newly created LSA Testing Accommodation Center.
Building on their extensive experiences at the University of Michigan, our panelists will highlight many of the challenges that students with disabilities often encounter. Following their presentation, there will be time for questions and answers on this important topic. The program will provide academic advisors with a broader range of effective strategies for helping to improve the educational experiences of students with disabilities in LSA.
At the inaugural workshop last fall focusing on with FERPA issues, we indicated that we will be featuring one or two timely programs having broad appeal to all faculty and staff advisors. We are delighted to be able to bring this timely discussion of issues facing students with disabilities to you in the hopes that it will enhance and inform your work with students. The workshop is open to all academic advisors and others who work directly with students in LSA.
If you plan to join us, please RSVP to Susan Gass (sgass@umich.edu) by February 8th.
Very Sincerely,
Esrold.
