In the Graduate Program section of the Department web site, you will find information about degree requirements, links to course lists, faculty, staff, Department events, and University services.  It is not meant as a complete or comprehensive list of faculty, facilities, or rules and regulations.  Rather, it is intended to inform prospective applicants and interested students about our graduate programs, and about the general composition of the Department.  Should you need more information, or have questions not addressed here, contact the Graduate Program Office

The Department of Geological Sciences awards PhD and MS degrees in Geological Sciences and Oceanography. Students holding a BS degree are encouraged to apply directly to the PhD program; they may elect to receive a Masters degree while pursuing their PhD, but the MS degree is not prerequisite to the PhD.

Graduate students apply to and enroll in the Rackham School of Graduate Studies, which is the adminstrative arm of the University for most graduate programs. Click on the Application Info link to the right for Admissions information.

See the Geological Sciences section of the Rackham Graduate School web site for a current list of graduate level courses in Geological Sciences, as well as for details concerning Rackham Graduate School degree requirements and application procedures.
