Max Kade Residence

The Max Kade House is a Michigan Learning Community [MLC]. It is the only language house on campus, and provides a truly unique opportunity to undergraduates. The Max Kade House has a lot to offer to all students interested in German language and culture:

  • The opportunity to speak German on a daily basis with fellow students
  • weekly "Kaffeestunden"
  • German film nights
  • a mini-course with guest lectures by faculty
  • a subsidized trip to a German speaking country over Spring Break,

Residents do not need to be German majors or minors -- but it's great if they are! We require a proficiency equal to the second-year college German, so participants will be able to communicate with one another in German. Max Kade residents will have to enroll in German 310, 'Readings in German Culture,' a 1 credit course, held at the house. This course centers around topics relevant to the destination of the Spring trip.
