Andrés joined the department after completing a master’s degree in philosophy at the University of Wisconsin, writing a thesis that applied concepts originating within the feminist ethical tradition to problems of autonomous decision making in the context of a community.
Questions concerning moral deliberation and agency continue to be the main focus of his philosophical inquiries, while aesthetics (especially the German aesthetic tradition) is an important secondary philosophical interest.
He is currently investigating how ideas developed within these areas of interest can be profitably applied to analysis of the social, political and economic history of the German Democratic Republic.
