Deutsch 101: Stunde 43

Outline plan:

Informal conversation before class begins:
- Wie ist das Wetter heute? Wie war das Wetter gestern? Wie soll das Wetter morgen sein?
- “Was haben Sie gestern gemacht?”
Janosch Seite 28-35: Go through homework worksheet:
- Students compare R/F responses in groups
- Survey opinions about what we see on pp. 34-35
  - Then perhaps read the sentence at the top of p. 36
- Students read their past tense sentences to each other and suggest corrections as needed
- Time permitting:
  - Discuss students’ questions about the text
  - Form sentences like “Ich finde es interessant, dass…”; “Ich möchte wissen, ob…” etc.
  - Students pretend to be der Tiger or der Bär and form sentences like “Es macht Spaß, Pilze zu suchen” [ending with zu + infinitive]
Sesamstraße: “Ernie und Bert wechseln sich ab“

Overhead: Kultur Mini-Quiz (As always, this is not really a quiz!)
Kapitel 5 Kultur: Group discussion auf Denglisch:
- Es ist interessant, dass…
- Ich möchte wissen, ob…
- Ich meine, das ist vielleicht, weil…
EITHER: Overhead: “Brennpunkt Kultur: Hamburg” (p. 177)
OR: “Hast du Lust…” with “zu + infinitive” at the end of the clause.
- Instructor hands out slips of paper based on the “Tolle Idee/Ach, es tut mir leid” overhead
- Students mingle, invite each other to the activities on their slips of paper, and accept/refuse invitations according to the instructions on their slip of paper
- e.g.: Hast du Lust, ins Theater zu gehen? Hast du Lust, tanzen zu gehen? Hast du Lust, zusammen Deutsch zu lernen? Hast du Lust, den Abend zusammen zu verbringen?
