German 221/231 Film Screenings, Winter 2014

The required movies for German 221/231 will be screened at the times listed below. All screenings will take place in the Video Viewing Room of the Language Resource Center in North Quad. Please go to an earlier screening if you can: seating is limited and there will not be enough room if everyone tries to go to the last screening!

Alternatives to the screenings: going to the LRC; Netflix; Askwith Screening times for the semester

Alternatives to the screenings:

All of these movies will be on reserve in the LRC for two weeks before the due date ==> you could watch them at your convenience whenever the LRC is open during those two weeks. Please note that you have to watch the movies in the LRC: they cannot be checked out.

  • There are two viewing stations with wireless headphones where you can watch movies in groups of up to 8 people (when the stations are available). At the computer booths, you can watch movies in groups of up to four people.

If you have a Netflix account, you can rent Good Bye Lenin and Kebab Connection from Netflix. You will need to plan ahead to receive the DVD on time. Sometimes, one or more of these movies may be available via Netflix' live streaming service.

The Askwith Media Library in the UGLi has all of these movies available to check out, but their copy of Kebab Connection does not have English subtitles. Nach fünf im Urwald and Sonnenallee may only play on multistandard DVD players and may not have subtitles (please email Hartmut if you find out whether or not this is the case!). Note that there are only one or two copies of each DVD, and many German 221/231 students!
