Joshua Hawkins is a PhD student in German Studies. He received his B.A. in German, French, International Studies, and Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As an undergraduate, Joshua conducted research on the poetry of German women immigrants to the Midwest (Nebraska) in the first half of the 20th century. His current interests are Minority Literature, primarily Afro-German Literature, as well as issues of gender and sexuality. Other areas of focus include fin-de-siècle sexology discourses, race, gender, and sexuality in film, and discourses of the 'public.' Joshua is also currently a participant of the Turkish-German Studies Group [Alamanya].
