Katy joined the German Studies department in 2012. She received her B.A. from Oberlin College with a triple major in German, History, and Art History. Before joining the German Studies department, she worked at the Museum of Modern Art, where she assisted with an exhibition on modern experimentations with abstraction.
At Michigan, Katy has taught German and History courses and has lectured for a mini-course on German Expressionists in Munich. She also serves as academic outreach assistant at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. Katy's research interests include cultural history, exhibition culture, and the history of the built environment. Her dissertation project examines the mass appeal of international hygiene exhibitions and the experience of the exhibition visitor.
Her extracurricular interests include soccer, rock climbing, and ice hockey.
