Claudia is a visiting research scholar from Tübingen, Germany, where she's a research assistant and lecturer in applied linguistics and from where she graduated with a "Staatsexamen" (M.Ed.) degree in English and German literatures and languages. She is currently working on her dissertation on "Intercultural language learning through web collaboration" in which she investigates how online exchanges and Web 2.0 tools can foster intercultural awareness and communication skills in teenagers.
Before coming to Michigan, Claudia taught for several years in Tübingen and spent the academic year of 2007-2008 teaching German as a visiting scholar at Yale through the Baden-Württemberg-Connecticut Exchange Fellowship.
Her main interests lie in foreign language acquisition, CALL (computer-assisted language learning), CMC (computer-mediated communication), educational technologies and media & culture, as well as (intercultural) pragmatics, intercultural communication and linguistic anthropology.
