Species Focus:
Omphalotus illudens
Omphalotus illudens or the "jack o' lantern" mushroom is a saprophyte that fruits in clusters at the base of deciduous trees. O. illudens is poisonous and must be distinguished from the superficially similar chanterelles. O. illudens is also of significance because it is weakly bioluminescent.
