The Sultanate of Oman is a country in the southeastern part of the Arabian Peninsula bordering Yemen, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf of Oman, and the Arabian Sea. While most of central Oman is a vast gravel desert, the northern and southern mountains provide lush oases, wadis and fertile valleys.
