Introduction

The Herbarium Library is a branch of the Museums Library, which is part of the University of Michigan Library System. The focus of this collection is plant systematics, floristics, and monographic studies. Botanical books of a more general nature or concerned with disciplines other than systematics are housed in the Shapiro Science Library.

Borrowing
In order to charge materials from the Herbarium Library a borrowing card with machine readable barcode must be presented. Faculty, staff, and currently registered UM students may use their M-card. For further information see Circulation Services and Policies. Books and Journals that are available for circulation may be requested via Library-to-Library Delivery.

Returns/Renewals
Books borrowed from the Herbarium Library may be returned or renewed at ANY branch of the University Library.

Sadleria squarrosa
(Gaudich.)


T.Moore, shown above, is an endemic species in Hawaii and  a member of one of three  fern genera  known only from Hawaii. As the most isolated landmass on the planet, Hawaii has a unique and interesting pteridophyte flora that includes about 150 taxa found nowhere else.
