PhD and evidence of scholarly achievement and teaching excellence required. Historical and regional focus: open. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of courses on the art and visual cultures of Islam at all levels from introductory lecture courses through graduate seminars in areas of research interest, to supervise doctoral dissertations, and to participate actively in departmental programs and area studies initiatives within a larger university community that encourages interdisciplinary and cross-cultural explorations. We are especially interested in candidates who share our commitment to historically grounded scholarship that is both rigorous and innovative, and who are drawn to the intellectual opportunities afforded by a culturally diverse, multi-centric program.
