As part of its ongoing project to reflect on knowledge produced at the crossroads of anthropology and history and to consider new directions for this work, the Doctoral Program in Anthropology and History (DPAH) is hosting an intensive two-day workshop in late September, 2007. A number of faculty members and students associated with the program since its founding in 1989 will present a series of papers that explore how anthrohistorical work has integrated and transformed disciplinary assumptions, perspectives and boundaries. As with the February, 2004 conference that began this project, workshop participants will seek to illuminate the central themes that has animated scholarship in anthropology and history, especially a shared concern with the intersection of power, ethics, and knowledge production. Ultimately, the workshop will serve as an essential meeting for developing the themes and approaches of a forthcoming edited volume with the University of Michigan Press.
