Doctoral Candidate in History
1029 Tisch Hall, Ann Arbor MI, 48109-1003
Jonathan specializes in medieval European history. His research explores the relationship between the religious and political changes of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and the transformation of urban spaces in southern France. Drawing on both textual and material evidence, his dissertation project traces how citizens, expanding monarchical states, and new mendicant religious orders articulated and contested urban identities and spatial imaginaries.
