My research explores the types of politics, and types of political imaginaries, that have assembled around technologies and infrastructures of mobility in colonial and postcolonial Kenya. Working at the intersection of Science and Technology Studies (STS), African Studies and media studies, I am interested in the relationship between governance and technology, how technologies and infrastructures mediate the relationships between subjects and the state, and popular attempts to capture, reconfigure, and appropriate these strategies (and objects) of rule. In particular, I am concerned with how technopolitical strategies are vernacularized in the practice of everyday life.
