History Concentrators Graduation Reception 2003

Friday, April 25, 2003 brought about 400 people together to celebrate the History Class of 2003 at a program and a reception in its honor. Associate Chair David William Cohen launched the program in Angell Auditorium A with a rousing salute to the graduates and their support teams - parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends.

History alumnus John Bacon (Class of 1986) spoke about the role his history degree has played throughout his career. John is a free-lance writer and author (Blue Ice: The Story of Michigan Hockey; Up in Michigan) who puts his research training to use in each article he writes. Following the speech, Professor J. Mills Thornton called each of the graduates to the stage to receive a History Department certificate and a long round of applause. 89 students and their families were able to attend the program out of the total of 187 history students graduating in April and August 2003. A reception followed in the new Haven Hall mezzanine.

The faculty and staff of the History Department send hearty congratulations and best wishes to each and every one of the 2003 graduates.
