Detailed Information
The Silver River will be performed at the Power Center on January 12 and 13. Hear the composer and librettist talk about how a musical theatre piece makes its way from idea through writing and assembling of a creative team, to arriving fully-staged on opening night. Leonard Bernstein Distinguished Professor Bright Sheng and Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang discuss the making of The Silver River, which played successfully in New York and around the world, before its Midwest premiere here. They also pull back the curtain to give a backstage peek into the creation of their other works, such as Sheng’s operas Madame Mao, The Monkey King and Hwang's Broadway shows, from M. Butterfly to his current Tarzan.

Free and open to the public
