Humanities Institute Names Fellows for 2008–09
The Institute for the Humanities has awarded fellowships to eight faculty and five graduate students to support research projects they will pursue during 2008-09.
Institute Director Daniel Herwitz, who chaired the selection meetings, said, “As always, Michigan provided the selection committee with an abundance of superb candidates. Next year’s fellows will be a remarkable group with much to say to each other.”
The outside evaluators for the faculty fellowship selection process were John Baines (Egyptology, Oxford University), Sarah Beckwith and Srinivas Aravamudan (English, Duke University). Helping to select the graduate student fellows were Mika Lavaque-Manty (political science) and Christi Merrill (Asian languages and cultures and comparative literature).
