Our Needs
The Institute continues to seek support for activities that benefit audiences within and beyond the University. We list here some opportunities that offer donors the chance to honor someone important to them by underwriting and naming an event, or activity, or program, or fellowship that the Institute sponsors. Each of these activities can be made permanent within the University by establishing an endowment, the income from which will support that event or program. Planned gifts can contribute to these programs as well. In all cases, gifts will receive full credit in the campaign for “The Michigan Difference.” Donors will also receive recognition in University of Michigan honor rolls.
- Annual “membership” gifts, which provide critical ongoing support for the Institute:
- Arts and Knowledge Fellowship – one term
- Careers in the Making – a post-MFA term in which to prepare professional portfolio materials
- Global Fellowship – one term
- Publication support for:
- Annual Report
- Art brochures
- Newsletter (one edition, or a year’s “volume”)
- Special exhibition catalogue, or preparation of a musical score or other unique publishable project
- Scholars’ assistance:
- Summer stipend, to prepare a new, innovative course
- Travel grants
- Underwriting for events:
- Fall Seminar
- Lecture series, e.g., “Artists at Work”
- Spring Seminar
- Small gatherings with a featured presentation by a Fellow or the Director of the Institute
