Fellowships
The Institute for the Humanities supports research in the humanities through a variety of residential fellowships: Michigan Faculty Fellowships, Michigan Graduate Student Fellowships, and Visiting Fellowships. We also offer two Fellowship programs generously funded by the Andrew Mellon Foundation: the Global Fellowship Program and the Arts and Knowledge Fellowship Program.
Through these programs we are able to support a broad spectrum of work across the humanities and arts. Thanks to the residential nature of our fellowships, we strive at the same time to construct an interdisciplinary intellectual community. The heart of our community is the weekly Fellows Seminar, attended by Michigan and Visiting Fellows alike. In this protected, cross-disciplinary setting, they have the opportunity to present work-in-progress to colleagues who scrutinize and query it from different theoretical and disciplinary points of view, a process that is both challenging and invigorating.
