Thirty-nine students declared a concentration (major) in Informatics during the 2008-2009 academic year and brought a range of interests and strengths to the program. Several students are pairing Informatics with a concentration in Business, Economics, English, and Organizational Studies, and many have ambitious post-baccalaureate plans in research, entrepreneurship, law school, and medical school.

In addition, informatics students participated in internships and research opportunities at locations across the U.S. during the summer months. They learned from and contributed to the successes of Microsoft, Moosejaw, Nationwide Insurance, Terra Eclipse, Northwestern University's Science Of Networks In Communities (SONIC) lab, and the UM School of Information's Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) summer program, among others.

We hope you share our admiration for the students who declared a concentration in Informatics in its inaugural year. Their futures are bright, indeed.
