Helping Create LSA's Best Teaching and Learning Experiences

ISS Design & Engineering: Designing for Today and the Future

The Design and Engineering group is responsible for the design, installation and service of audio-visual systems in over 200 learning spaces managed by Instructional Support Services.

Design and Engineering is comprised of LSA staff members and student employees with expertise in audio engineering, control systems and display technology.

In addition to the services provided to ISS instructional spaces, Design and Engineering also consults with LSA departments and programs on local audio-visual projects.  The suite of consultation services offered by Design and Engineering includes budget planning for new and replacement audio-visual systems, preliminary system conceptualizing, vendor selection and complete audio-visual project management from design to installation.

Project management and other a la carte consultation services typically require a for-fee service level agreement between the LSA department or program and ISS.

ISS encourages LSA departments and programs with local audio-visual systems to initiate a budget planning project with Design and Engineering early in the annual budget cycle.

Design and Engineering also offers for-fee Media-Care service level agreements that provide basic maintenance on local audio-visual systems in LSA departmental and program spaces.

To contact Design and Engineering regarding consultation services (including budget planning), telephone (734) 936-1958 or email us at iss-help@umich.edu. For information regarding Media-Care maintenance agreements (including service requests under existing agreements), email lsa-iss-mediacare@umich.edu.
