Judaic Studies became an independent program at the University of Michigan in 1976. In 1988, it was renamed the Jean and Samuel Frankel Center for Judaic Studies in recognition of the Frankel Family’s generous support. Assistance from the Frankel family and the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit allowed the Center to expand its program and widen its range of activities.
Today, Judaic Studies alumni are present throughout the United States in a plethora of careers, including education, business, law, medicine, the rabbinate, and Jewish communal service.
The Frankel Center for Judaic Studies is always happy to welcome alumni back to campus. Alumni are encouraged to stay connected with the Center by contacting Kim Reick Kunoff, Public Relations Coordinator, at or calling (734) 763-9047. The Frankel Center appreciates hearing about good news, career changes or when alumni are going to be in the area.
