Anthropology

The University of Michigan’s Department of Anthropology provides students with an understanding of human biological and cultural variation across time and space within four traditional subfields: anthropological archaeology, biological (or physical) anthropology, ethnology (cultural or sociocultural anthropology), and linguistic anthropology. In addition to cross departmental collaborations, the department offers four joint programs as new opportunities to apply students’ understanding within the context of other disciplines including: Anthropology & History; Culture & Cognition Program; Medical Anthropology at Michigan; and Program in Anthropology & Social Work.
