Women’s Studies

The University of Michigan’s Women’s Studies program provides students with an understanding of the interdisciplinary scholarship on women, gender, and sexuality and offers theoretical and practical approaches to feminist thinking. Students are encouraged to use comparative thinking by exploring the multicultural nature of feminist scholarship.

Women’s Studies utilizes the skills and expertise of faculty from over 20 University of Michigan departments, who all share an understanding of how feminist theory has played a role in the development and redevelopment of fields within the social sciences and humanities. The program offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and certifications in a diverse range of fields and subfields, including Gender, Race, and Ethnicity; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Studies; and Gender and Health.
