Family Day programs at the Kelsey Museum are designed to teach children
aged 5-12 about the ancient world. Each two-hour program brings the past
alive through creative, educational and hands-on activities. The Egyptian
Family Days feature a hieroglyph workshop, mummy making, and crown and
jewelry design, while Family Days held in conjunction with special exhibitions
include an array of other activities. Past examples include "Animals
in the Ancient World," where children undertook a scavenger hunt
of the museum, followed animal tracks through the galleries, and learned
how to spin wool. The "Villa
of the Mysteries" hightlighted fresco painting and making mosaics.
These exciting and lively programs provide creative and educational activities
for children to learn about the everyday life of people who lived in the
ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman worlds. |
