Designs
The patterns of the Kelsey Museum collection of Indian block-printed textiles are predominately based on the representation of plants, with a tendency towards regular repetition. Small-scale motifs, such as rosettes, may be arranged in a continuous design field. It is possible that textiles with smallmotifs in over-all patterns were especially suitable as dress material. Larger medallions, possibly with border bands, suggest a different purpose, such as for a curtain or hanging in a domestic setting.
