Langston Kerman is a poet, comedian, writer, teacher and self-proclaimed cool guy. Born and raised in Oak Park, Illinois, Langston began his poetry/performance career as a participant in the Chicago youth poetry slam Louder Than a Bomb. He earned his B.A. in English from the University of Michigan, during which time he was a two-year member of the Lloyd Hall Scholars Program. He later went on to earn an MFA from Boston University where he studied under such great poets as Louise Gluck, Robert Pinsky and David Ferry. He spent 3 years in Boston working as a full-time high school English teacher. His work has appeared in numerous journals, and has allowed him the pleasure of traveling all over the world. He now resides in Brooklyn, New York, where he writes poems and jokes and performs stand up comedy.
We are so excited to welcome Langston back to LHSP as our Visiting Artist this week, and excited to have you meet him while he is here. Remember: Attendance at the All-Community Meeting is MANDATORY!
