Visual artist Alex Kahn offers a hands-on workshop in the art of traditional Carnival mask-making. Drawing on masquerade cultures from medieval Europe, to Cajun Mardi Gras in Louisiana, to the post-colonial Caribbean, Alex will introduce students to a centuries-old technique for creating and animating Carnival scrim-masks. Workshop participants will be encouraged to perform their creations as part of Festifools on April 7.
Workshop: Thursday, March 28, 2013 in the Art Studio, 1st floor, ALH. ALL are Welcome! (LHSP students receive credit for participation)
