Joining an LHSP club is an important part of your experience in the program. All our clubs meet every other week, and give you a great opportunity to meet and interact with people with similar interests. Take the next couple weeks to try out some of the clubs that seem interesting to you. Then, by the Drop/Add Deadline (September 24th), choose the club that you want to belong to! You're still welcome to go to meetings of other clubs, of course, but make sure to select at least one club that will be your primary club.
The reason for doing this is that LHSP club attendance also counts as 10% of your LHSP course grade. To get full participation, you need to do three things:
1. Attend two club meetings each month (and clubs will meet twice a month, so joining one will ensure you get the necessary points)
2. Attend the mandatory All-LHSP Meetings (scheduled one Wednesday evening a month--check your Welcome Week packets for the specific dates)
3. Submit a final portfolio at the end of the semester (more on this later--don't worry, it's not too hard!)
In each club meeting, a sign-in sheet will be passed around. Make sure you sign in!
The sign-in sheets then come to me, I tally your participation points, and then communicate with your instructors. If you ever want to know how you're doing, participation-wise, let me know, and I'd be happy to give you an update! You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
