PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

The following guidelines may help in preparing for your paper or poster talks. Please let us know (nwav33@umich.edu) if you have questions that aren’t addressed here. Also, if you are a student who would like to have your presentation included for the student paper or poster prize, and you did not indicate that in your confirmation email, please notify us as soon as possible. (note: joint authored papers between students and faculty are eligible for this prize only if the project is primarily the student’s, with the faculty serving only an advisory role.)

Paper

Each paper should last no more than twenty minutes. Following each talk will be five minutes for questions. The session chairs will end the talks and the question sessions that run over the allotted time. We will be very strict about these time limits since audience members will shift from room to room between talks.

Poster

The board to which the posters will be attached is 32 inches wide by 40 inches long. Anyone with questions about getting started making their posters in Powerpoint or Photoshop may contact Nancy Koch at nkoch@umich.edu.

The Kinko’s closest to our conference site (within easy walking distance of the Michigan League) has agreed to print out these posters at the special discounted University of Michigan rate, but presenters must email their files to Kinko’s one week in advance of picking up the poster. If presenters chose this option, when they email the file to Kinko’s, they must let Kinko’s know that they are with the NWAV Linguistic Conference and should receive the special University of Michigan printing price. Also, presenters are recommended to call Kinko's after sending the file to confirm the arrangements and verify the University of Michigan price. Additionally, we suggest that presenters call Kinko's again one to two days before picking up the poster.

The following pricing information has provided by Kinko’s:

1. matte finish $5.95 / sq. foot,
2. gloss $7.95 / sq. ft.
3. polypropolene at $6.00 / sq. ft. (polypropolene is the best-looking and usually the most expensive option but Kinko’s is running a special on it. If you select this option, please verify this price with Kinko’s when you send them your file.)
