David is a Ph.D. candidate interested primarily in morpho-syntax, with wide-ranging interests in areas such as psycholinguistics, the syntax-semantics interface, and language acquisition. His dissertation focuses on imperatives, and specifically the interaction between morphology, syntax, and semantics for morphologically imperative verbs. This work is conducted within the generative, Minimalist framework.
His QRP focused on the distribution of resumptive pronouns in Hawaiian, which included original field data from this endangered Polynesian language. Side projects include experimental study of wh-islands in Japanese and also the phonology of speech errors.
Research and documentation of understudied languages is also a continuing interest.
