Nancy is responsible for research and instructional computing in the department of economics. This includes maintaining the Economics Lab, computational analysis machines (econstat1, econstat2 and econstat3) and maintaining the partnership with LSA's System Research Group in the UM Computing Clusters. Nancy assists with software and programming issues on these platforms. Nancy assists in obtaining IRB approvals and preaward grant applications including data management plans. Nancy supports machines running Windows, Apple, and Linux. Nancy also supports secure data research and the Economics Secure Data facility located in 369 Lorch Hall and is the primary liaison for IT security on projects involving human subjects or confidential/proprietary data. Additional responsibilities for Nancy include, but are not limited to, support of the scantron grading system, ordering new hardware, software, and peripherals, managing departmental computing and A/V equipment, quarterly maintenance of machines, documentation tools for faculty/staff, assignment of machines to faculty/visitors, warranty issues and resolutions, lab updates/upgrades of equipment or software, faculty and staff upgrades of machines. Nancy also makes sure machines, software, and networks are compliant with U of M/LSA-IT security initiative and resolves all issues should a security incident take place.
