COLLEGE of LSA

Since 1841, the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) has been an integral part of the University of Michigan. LSA has offered generations of students broad and deep programs of study and, in the process, has provided a foundation for later successful lives and careers. Today, this "renaissance" approach to education continues to attract growing numbers of students who recognize the value of a liberal arts education in a rapidly changing world. As a premier liberal arts college, LSA is able to offer unique- and uniquely enriching- advantages that stem from its close links with 18 other University of Michigan colleges and departments. LSA students, and the faculty who teach them, have a vast array of opportunities for interdisciplinary learning and research in subjects that range from bioengineering to business, from environmental science to education, and from physics to the fine arts. Through formal research programs, as well as independent study and internship positions in University laboratories, LSA students can sample numerous disciplines and interact with senior-level scholars and scientists of national and international renown.
