There can be a lot of reasons why you might run into academic trouble in a course. Therefore there can be a lot of different solutions. The key issues are to see what is happening before too much time goes by, to start figuring out the causes of the trouble, and to consult with relevant staff or offices which might be able to help you. Unquestionably, you will be the one to solve the problem, but it’s almost always a good idea to get some help.
Possible steps: talk to your instructor (your syllabus gives contact information and office hours); pursue tutoring; talk to your family or to the Financial Aid Office to explore the possibility of reducing work hours; get help with Study Skills or time management; talk to a personal counselor about any issues which undercut your concentration; explore the Late Drop policies if you feel that you are doomed to a low or failing grade.
Above all, talk with your academic advisor. That conversation will cover both the problem-solving steps you’re taking, and also the implications for your program if you don’t earn credit toward graduation or fulfill a degree requirement by this election.
